The Kerala Onam Thiruvonam Bumper 2026 lottery will be announced in late September, offering the state’s largest ever top prize of Rs 30 crore. The draw coincides with the harvest celebration known as Onam, and officials say the total payout across all categories reaches Rs 125.54 crore.

How the winnings are distributed

The top award jumps by Rs 5 crore from the previous year, leaving a single recipient of the jackpot. The seller of the winning ticket also receives a commission of roughly ten to twelve percent.

Twenty tickets will each earn Rs 1 crore, making the second‑tier payout total Rs 20 crore. Another set of twenty tickets secures Rs 25 lakh apiece, adding a further sum to the pool.

Ten holders claim Rs 5 lakh each in the fourth tier, while another ten receive Rs 2 lakh for the fifth tier. The sixth category lists up to 54,000 winners of Rs 5,000 each.

Beyond that, up to 81,000 tickets fetch Rs 2,000, and a larger group of 1,24,200 tickets wins Rs 1,000. The ninth tier includes 2,75,400 tickets that each earn Rs 500. A consolation prize of the same amount is set aside for nine tickets that match the main numbers but miss the series.

Comparing this layout to earlier editions shows a pattern: the jackpot climbs while the number of lower‑tier winners stays roughly the same, a strategy that keeps public interest high without inflating the total cost dramatically.

Ticket pricing and circulation

Each ticket costs Rs 500 and bears a series code such as TA, TB, TC, and so on up to TL. Authorities report that up to 90 lakh tickets have been printed for this draw, a volume that reflects the event’s popularity across the state.

The pricing structure has remained steady, but the sheer scale of printed tickets means that many residents will own at least one chance to win, even if the odds of hitting the top prize remain slim.

Draw schedule and tax treatment

The official draw is slated for September 26, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. IST, taking place in Gorky Bhavan near Bakery Junction in Thiruvananthapuram. The schedule is posted on the state’s lottery portal, and the winning numbers will be posted on the same page after the event.

Winnings are subject to a fixed tax regime: amounts above Rs 10,000 incur a 30 % levy, plus a 4 % health and education cess, bringing the effective rate to 31.2 %. Larger sums may also attract a surcharge, though the exact threshold is not detailed in the public notice.

Onam, celebrated for its lively flower carpets and communal feasts, provides a cultural backdrop that amplifies the lottery’s visibility each year.

The department overseeing the draw emphasizes transparency, publishing detailed tables of prize distribution and ticket availability on its website.

In recent years, the lottery has become a significant source of revenue for social programs, with a portion of proceeds earmarked for education and health initiatives.

Residents often line up at authorized retailers weeks before the draw, eager to purchase tickets bearing their preferred series code.

Because the odds of winning the top prize are low, many participants treat each ticket as a modest contribution to a community fund.

After the numbers are announced, local news outlets broadcast the results live, and winners are required to claim their prizes within a stipulated period.

The tax collection process is handled by the state’s revenue department, which issues certificates confirming the amount after deductions.

Those who win smaller amounts can collect cash directly from authorized centers, while jackpot recipients must appear before a notary to complete paperwork.

Overall, the Kerala Onam Thiruvonam Bumper 2026 lottery blends tradition with modern fundraising, offering a blend of excitement and civic benefit.
