PRESS RELEASE FROM THE GREATER JACKSON CHAMBER:
Fleet Feet Named Small Business of the Month by the Greater Jackson Chamber
JACKSON, TENN., March 28, 2024 – The Greater Jackson Chamber is proud to announce that Fleet Feet was named Small Business of the Month. This designation is awarded monthly to a member of the Greater Jackson Chamber with 25 or fewer full-time employees, recognizing their contributions to the local business community.
The Greater Jackson Chamber remains committed to supporting and uplifting our small business community. Each month, a selection committee carefully reviews applications submitted by eligible businesses and community members. The business’s achievements and impact on the local community are considered in the selection process.
Ten years ago, Danny Crossett had a vision. After visiting a Fleet Feet store in Kingsport, Tennessee, he realized the need for a similar specialty running store in Jackson. Despite Fleet Feet’s initial skepticism about Jackson’s ability to support a store, Danny remained convinced of the need and opened Performance Running of West Tennessee. The store thrived for three years and then caught the attention of Fleet Feet. From there, Fleet Feet Jackson, TN, was born. This May marks the ninth anniversary from the beginning (five years as Fleet Feet).
Utilizing 3D scanning technology, the store ensures every customer finds their perfect fit, making them shoe shopping an experience tailored to individual needs. Fleet Feet offers a diverse selection of brands, and every aspect of the business is tailored to meet the needs of its customers. Beyond shoes, the store carries popular apparel brands like Lululemon and Vuori.
“Small businesses are important because they drive economic growth, create jobs and foster innovation,” said Kyle Spurgeon, Greater Jackson Chamber President/CEO. “We value the contributions small businesses make to our community, as they bring unique character, entrepreneurship and economic vitality to the table.”
Fleet Feet is more than just a store—it is an integral part of the community. It sponsors charity runs, such as the Turkey Day Run benefiting RIFA, and supports events such as the Andrew Jackson Marathon. The store is deeply invested in West Tennessee, as evidenced by its free 5Ks, fun runs, and partnerships with organizations like Young Life and Youth Town.
The Small Business of the Month designation highlights the role small businesses play in driving economic growth and fostering a vibrant business environment in the Jackson area.
